Simons has been linked with a surprise move to Stamford Bridge in recent days and this latest development could suggest he is preparing for life away from Leipzig. The club have also begun to look at potential replacements.

It is widely known that Simons wishes to move on this summer. He all-but informed German media of this before the 2024-25 season had ended, but tentative links with several European powerhouses failed to develop until strong links with Chelsea emerged recently.
